Introduction

NDA Exam Process

The NDA exam is conducted twice a year (April & September) by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

    • Two Papers:
      • Mathematics (300 marks)
      • General Ability Test (600 marks: English + General Knowledge)
    • Total: 900 marks
    • Duration: 2.5 hours each paper
  2. SSB Interview (Services Selection Board) – 900 marks

Training at NDA

  • Selected candidates undergo 3 years of training at the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla (Pune).
  • After 3 years, cadets move to:
    • Indian Military Academy (Dehradun) for Army,
    • Indian Naval Academy (Ezhimala) for Navy,
    • Air Force Academy (Hyderabad) for Air Force.
  • Training covers academics, physical fitness, weapon training, leadership, and discipline.

Career Growth After NDA

Once training is completed, candidates are commissioned as Lieutenants (Army), Sub-Lieutenants (Navy), or Flying Officers (Air Force).
