Hello students , are you all not able to decide what you should do after taking commerce in class 12 or should you take commerce or not. So to help you decide about your future according to the commerce stream we are going to discuss about courses and fields you can opt if you have taken commerce and interested in the subjects related to commerce stream. So first tell me what you think about commerce stream, what first come to your mind when you think about your future job if you take commerce stream.

Well , probably you must have think of becoming CA or CS  or doing B.com course, most of the students just think of doing it but if everyone is going to pursue their future as CA or CS then there will be a complete mess. In order to avoid such a mess in our lives let’s get some knowledge about the commerce stream. In our blogs we are going to discuss about the future opportunities related to commerce stream. We are going to discuss in detail of  each and every course related to commerce stream.

So let’s start with our first option:

CA – CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT

If you want to become professional accountant and recognised professionally in the  fields of finance, auditing and accounting not only this you should also have to  believe in yourself that you can devote your time in this then you should look forward to become CA. There are three levels to become ca along with article ship program

  1. CA Foundation
  2. CA Intermediate
  3. CA Final

CA Foundation route:-           

Students who have completed their 10 and 12 board from a recognised board with minimum 50% aggregate marks are eligible for the foundation course.

In this route students have to qualify foundation course . to enroll in ca foundation course students have to pass the CPT (Common Proficiency Test) once the students will pass CA foundation course they can go further to CA intermediate and final course.

CA IPCC (Integrated Professional Competence) route:-

Students who have done graduation can directly enroll in CA Intermediate Course. To enroll in this course the commerce graduates must have  secured minimum aggregate of 55% and non commerce graduates (60% aggregate) graduates have to register with BOS for intermediate course.

Students who have passed foundation course can also enrol to intermediate course

CA final route:-

Students have to complete foundation and intermediate course and articleship training ( practical training of tree years after doing intermediate course) also , in the last six months articleship training students have to appear for final examination after which they will get the designation of chartered accountant

Skills required for CA

  1. CA should be good with computers because all work of CA’s are done through computers
  2. They should be comfortable enough with numbers that they can understand and manipulate the numerical and statistical data
  3. They should know how to apply methodical approach to work involving logical thinking
  4. They should posses good communication and interpersonal skills
  5. They should also posses time management and organisational skills

CARRER AND JOBS FOR CHARTERED ACCOUNTANT

  4. Finance controller
  5. Taxation advisory
  6. Forensic auditing
  7. Finance manager

Average salary range – 7 lacs to 20 lacs (source: pay scale)

CMA – Cost and Management Accountant

If you are serious and dedicated and want to pursue about management and regulation of funds in business then you should opt for this course. Let’s discuss about routes to enrol yourself in this course. In this course there are three stages which comprise of 20 subjects. This can take duration form 6 months – 4 years, it varies according to the place and skills.

In this course there are three stages-

  1. CMA Foundation
  2. CMA Intermediate
  3. CMA Final

Eligibility

CMA Foundation– Students have to make sure that they have completed high school 10th and 12th education from a recognised board. to be considered legible they have to pass National diploma in commerce examination held by the all India council for technical education or any particular state board of technical education.

CMA Intermediate– For the eligibility criteria for intermediate course students had to complete their higher secondary education and also had to clear the foundation course

If students need to do intermediate course through direct entry they have to be graduated any discipline other than fine arts and have to pass the entry level examination of CAT / ICSI Foundation /ICAI Intermediate.

CMA Final- Students have to make sure that they have cleared the foundation and intermediate course

 Career and Jobs after doing CMA

There are lot of job opportunities after getting CMA certification such as-

Salary

The salary for those who have done CMA can start off with average salary of 3-4 lakh annually and can go to 20 lakh as well this depends from person to person , if the candidate has cleared the CMA exam at first attempt then he/she will get more opportunities than those who cleared it at second or third attempt. the one having good skills will get good job easily while other have to look after it to get good salary.

BBA – BACHELOR OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Students who have interest in managing finance and are good with numbers may opt this course and develop their skills related to business and finance. BBA is one of the undergraduate programme . the duration for is course is 3 years .you can  do this course after doing higher graduation in recognised board . the minimum percentage criterion set up by colleges for admission in this course which is usually 50% of aggregate marks. The criterion may vary in different colleges . in some colleges to have mathematics as your subject is important while in some it’s not . you have to pass the entrance exam set up by colleges. After doing BBA students can also go further to do MBA course

Salary

The salary for BBA graduates depends upon which job they pursue, their skills and place where they work. the average initial  salary for BBA graduates starts from 3 lakh per annum and go upto 7 lakh per annum. Students who have also done MBA after BBA can get salary even more than 7 lakh per annum.

CS – Company Secretary

CS course is a three course programmed by ICSI (Institute of Companies Secretaries) . To complete the cs course one need to go through three programs and pass them.

The three programmes are –

  1. Foundation programme
  2. Executive programme
  3. Professional programme

Eligibility criteria to get admission in CS course –

CS Foundation programme – to start with cs course the first level which comes is foundation course . to enrol in this course the candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination in any discipline (except fine arts) from a recognised board . students have to register for entrance exam beforehand and have to pass it to be eligible for doing cs foundation programme. 

CS Executive programme – students who have passed the foundation programme can get admission in executive programme. students who want to pursue CS after doing graduation will go through only two programmes that is executive and professional programme. To do the programmes after graduation (in all streams except fine arts) must  have to pass the entrance exam set up by university .

Students can only to professional programme if they have passed the foundation and executive programme

B.com (Bachelor of Commerce)

Students who are interested and dedicated to continue with finance department of private organisation can prefer b.com  for their future studies in colleges. the duration for this  course is a undergraduate 3 years which would be divided into six semesters .

Eligibility –

Every college has eligibility criteria according to them let’s discuss them –

  1. To be eligible for pursuing B.com , you should have cleared recognised board examination with minimum 50% marks every college has its own cut -off marks set up for students.
  2. There might not be any specific requirement of stream but some colleges mostly prefer students from commerce , so they give more preference to commerce students as compared to others.
  3. Some might also consider mathematics as a compulsory subject in class 12.
  4. Students also have to pass the entrance exam if any .

What after B.com?

Lots of students face this kind of questions while doing  B.com or even when they thinks about doing b.com in their future .
