7 :- Kumar, Laksya, Manoj and Naresh are partners sharing profits and losses in the ratio of 3:2:1:4. Kumar retires and his share is taken by Lakshya and Manoj in the ratio of 3:2. Calculate new profit-sharing ratio and gaining ratio of the remaining partners.
Solution :- Old ratio = 3:2:1:4
Kumar retires
His share is taken over by Lakshya and Manoj in 3:2
(a) Calculation of new profit sharing ratio
Lakshya = 2/10 + (3/10 x 3/5) = 2/10 + 9/50 = 19/50
Manoj = 1/10 + (3/10 x 2/5) = 1/10 + 6/50 = 11/50
Naresh = 4/10 x 5/5 = 20/50
Therefore, new PSR of Lakshya, Manoj and Naresh is 19:11:20
(b) Calculation of gaining ratio
New ratio – old ratio
Lakshya = 19/50 – 2/10 = 9/50
Manoj = 11/50 – 1/10 = 6/50
Therefore, gaining ratio of Lakshya and Manoj is 3:2 and Naresh neither gains nor sacrificed.
