10 :- Murli, Naveen and Omprakash are partners sharing profits in the ratio of 3/8, ½ and 1/8. Murli retires and surrenders 2/3rd of his share in favor of Naveen and remaining share in favor of Omprakash. Calculate new profit sharing ratio and gaining ratio of the remaining partners.

Solution:-
Old ratio = 3:4:1
Murli retires
(a) Calculation of New profit sharing ratio
Naveen = 4/8 + (3/8 x 2/3) = 4/8 + 6/24 = 18/24
Omprakash = 1/8 + (3/8 x 1/3) = 1/8 + 3/24 = 6/24
Thus, new profit sharing ratio of Naveen and Omprakash is 3:1

(b) Calculation of gaining ratio
New ratio – old ratio
Naveen = 18/24 – 4/8 = 6/24
Omprakash = 6/24 – 1/8 = 3/24
Therefore, gaining ratio of Naveen and Omprakash is 2:1
